This morning I asked Rylan for a hug and he exclaimed, " Oh yes(th) I would love to give you a hug!" then he told me he was going to give me a long hug...he was going to count to 100 - so he did. Then after he said, "Ahhh that was a really good hug, I loved it! Thank you Mom!"
Sometimes the words that come out of his mouth are cuter than anything I could ever imagine :)

Nana Competition - Lee saved Rylan - Storage Bin Pool
Both boys haven't seen Nana at the same time for a few weeks and are so excited to tell her stuff and show her stuff that they are having trouble taking turns talking and are getting really competitive. Let's just say I am going to feel really bad for a girl if they ever both have a crush on her at the same time!
A couple days ago the boys were playing up in their room and Michael heard Rylan freaking out and apparently Lee came downstairs to grab a glass and announced he was going to save Rylan from a spider! He trapped it under a glass and later took it outside.
We have the boys in the summer reading program at the school. They go to the library on Wednesdays and get new books that they read then do activities about in their reading journal then talk to a teacher about what happened in the books when they come back the following wednesday. The school also provides dinner since the group is held at 5-7 in the evening. Also each time the kids get to fill out a raffle ticket to enter for a prize.
I am so proud of both boys. Rylan has now read 4 books pretty much all by himself without much help and Lee has read 1. I haven't had as much of a chance to work with him on reading since he is going to his mom's house every other week during summer. Rylan was in the school reading program during half of kindergarten which has tremendously helped him get excited about reading. Lee was in a safety net group for a bit then was taken out and ever since then he hasn't really wanted to try anymore. I had to bribe him with some video game time and it was a huge step for him to take a bribe to read. And he stuck it out and read through the whole story! I think Rylan's excitement helps a little and it makes a huge difference when I sit with him and get super excited whenever he figures out a hard word. I think the reading program will really help fuel his excitement and especially since he won a raffle prize and chose a little golf set. Rylan also won a prize and picked a newer version of candy land! We had played it at the last reading group time after dinner and he had said he wanted it. Honestly I didn't want to get it for him because we already have candy land and the only difference is a spinner instead of cards and I told him we could make a spinner ourselves but he lucked out and won the raffle and got to pick a prize and picked that!
Yesterday was really crazy hot out and everywhere I went to look for a sprinkler and/or a pool was sold out! So I just filled up a storage bin with water and let them play with the hose. They actually had a blast!

Eatin' the worms new family inside joke
Today Rylan said: "Did you know that on grown up shows the people are pretending to be someone else?"
Quite awhile ago Lee brought home a toy story book called the Prospector and just looooved it. After reading it together we have an inside joke as a family:
Someone says, "What are the birds doin'?" and someone replies in a silly voice, "Eatin' the worms"
Today Lee said: ondamatic (automatic)
Today we stayed home all day and the boys played almost perfectly the entire time! We were especially amazed because I caught them last night still awake at 12 am!
Yesterday we went to Jacob Jutte's bday party and both boys had such a great time running around spraying squirt guns!
Lee: "Paige said that the bumps on the road are for waking people up when they are driving off the road"
